PROPOSAL 1.5

It seems that my idea didn't float GTS's boat, so I am trying to come up with another proposal.

What I didn't get across in my last proposal was that I should be able to get real professionals involved in the project. My sister knows David Carson and there is a possibiliry he would contribute. Similarly with Stefan Sagmeister and illustrator Josh Ellingson.

BUT - If I am not doing the comic/annual, I would like to conceive an idea that could still incorporate this amazing opportunity to work with such professionals.

First Post.

-- PROPOSAL 1 --

Create a comic based around certain aspects of graphic design or certain graphic designers. The comic could be a one off or a limited series, say, three or so. That could give room to base it on the 'Adventurous Lives of Graphic Designers' and base it around three top designers.

To make the project live, I would like to commission known comic artists and illustrators to draw them as well as the possibilty of getting some input into the writing. My role would be to compile the information and content and to write the "story", as well as storyboard the initial concept. I have a link to experienced San Francisco based artist/illustrator Joshua Ellingson (www.joshuaellingson.com) and will be in contact with him.

Similar to Harvey Pekar's 'American Splendor', the comic could be illustrated by a number or different artists, that match certain designers or stories.

So I was having trouble thinking of something that can sustain a 16 week period, so what I did was make a list of my hobbies, interests, passions, lifestyle choices and facts about me.

-- Comics --
I probably have around 1000 comics, both my sister and dad are comic geeks (my dad not so much anymore.) I have been reading and collecting them since I can remember.

-- Toys & Colletibles --
I have a large amount of toys, some of which are from childhood, most of which are part of an ever-growing collection.

-- Guitar --
About six month ago I started to learn the guitar and about a month ago I bought an Epiphone Dot 335, it is beautiful and I love it.

-- Illustration --
I have always been interested in illustration and it's something I get excited about doing.

-- TV Subtitles --
During my dissertation I started to watch the TV with the sound on mute and the subtitles on, so as to not get distracted. I have not turned them off since and now I am addicted to them.

-- Asthma --
I have had asthma since birth and it is a big factor in my life.

-- Background --
I am Jewish and half American.
