UPDATE SAT 31/05/08 01:48AM

Ok... Things as they stand.

The LARGE version of the board has gone to the vinyl/printer people to be made.

as it turns out the LARGE version of the board is sadly costing me a feckin' fortune, but it should look the bee's knees.

I have made the box for the small version of the game and the vacuum form insert has been/is being made, as is the board and cards and other peripherals.

I say "has been/is being made" because I am making them myself so they are in components at the moment and they are basically all ready for assembly. The only thing I am waiting for is to talk to Sharon at college about her sealing the paper I am using for the box so that it gives it that good ol' fashioned boardgame feel.

Pictures of the box  and board to follow.

UPDATE 23/05/08

I've been working on the "take home" version of the game and buying all the materials so the board can be made.

(I bought bright RED backing for the board!)

UPDATE LATE NIGHT 19/05/2008

So the board design is done and now I am about to proceed with the making of the board (both LARGE and regular versions.) The regular version will come with everything that the large one has, except it comes with playing pieces, (rather than the kids being the playing pieces in the large one.) But apart from that it comes with the instructions, quiz cards and board.

More posting soon.. sleep even sooner.

MAJOR GROWTH... and development.

So after getting in touch with Quentin Blake's people, I have been given persmission to use his font and his images too. So I have been re-designing and laying out the board and this is what is looks like so far... I also have decided which characters I am gonna use as playing counters, but haven't fiddled with them in photoshop yet, so they aren't here... yet.

GAME BOARD DEVELOPMENT

So I have been talking to Amanda at the Roald Dahl Museum and we should hear back from Quentin Blake by Tuesday as to whether he can illustrate the board/if we can use his illustrations.

Just in case we can't, I have been designing a board with illustrations I have done, so that the layout of the board is fixed and everything fits.

I have also been looking into materials and printing, and although it doesn't sound to glamourous, I think gym mats or something similar will be the best things to use as they are durable and I can get them printed on.

Below is the board as it stands.
